Information we use

Gommie keeps a library on your device and uses your account to sync supported library data.

InformationWhat it’s for
Account detailsYour sign-in identifier, email and name, when supplied by Apple or Google, help identify your account.
Waitlist emailIf you join the waitlist, we use your email to confirm your place and tell you when Gommie is ready. Supabase stores the waitlist, and our email delivery provider receives the address and message needed to send those emails. The operational alert contains only the updated signup count, not your email address.
Your librarySaved URLs, article text, shelves, highlights, notes, followed sources, reading progress and history let you organise your finds and pick up later.
Onboarding answersAge range, how you found Gommie, reading and sharing habits, and selected interests help us understand how people use the app. The response payload does not include your account ID or email. Free-text answers can still contain personal information you enter.
Support messagesWhen contacting support, your message and reply address help us respond. App version, device and iOS version can help investigate a problem.

Services & connections

Account and sync. Gommie uses Supabase for account services and library storage. Apple or Google handles the sign-in option you choose. App Store purchases are processed by Apple; Gommie uses purchase status to provide membership access.

Reading and listening. Fetching an article, image, podcast, video or transcript contacts the relevant publisher or hosting service. Those services receive normal network request information. Text-to-speech and local transcription run on your device; downloading content or models still uses a network connection.

Optional exports. Connecting Readwise sends the content covered by your export settings to Readwise. Choosing an Obsidian folder writes exported files there. Copies in another service follow that service’s privacy policy and deletion controls.

Sharing a letter

A letter includes only the items and personal note you choose. Anyone who receives or has access to its shared link can view those contents, so review the letter before sharing it.

Shared-letter information is used to prepare and display the letter for its recipient. Please do not include sensitive personal information in a note or shared item.

Your choices

You can manage notification permissions in iOS, disconnect optional exports, and choose what to save or share.

You can ask us to remove your waitlist email. For account or privacy requests, contact support@gommie.page.

Keeping & deleting data

Signing out keeps the account’s local library on your device. Items in Recently Deleted can be restored during the app’s 30-day recovery period; removing an article does not automatically remove past reading history.

Waitlist emails are kept until launch communications finish or you ask us to remove yours. Other retention depends on the kind of information and why it is needed. Some records may remain for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations or in backups for a limited period.
